The Hotel Jaccarino's not your usual run-of-the-mill hotel. This place is more than 200 years old, so it's like sleeping in a little bit of Italian history. And this being Italy, you can expect some superb scenery, too. For starters, there's a marvellous view over Sorrento and the striking Bay of Naples. Plus, you're encircled by miles of towering trees and lush greenery.

Inside the hotel, the style undoubtedly leans towards the traditional side. Terracotta tiles and yellow walls offer a Mediterranean feel. While a large wall tapestry and quality furniture offer a touch that's 100% Italian. The bedrooms are decked out in a similar style, but have their own individual individuality. Each one's different in size and shape, but all come with traditional wooden furniture.

Rooms aside, we can't talk about this place without mentioning the fabulous pool. Encircled by a spacious sun terrace and plenty of sunloungers, it offers some of the best sea views around. But you don't have to swim or sunbathe to enjoy the scenery. The poolside snack bar has an alfresco terrace, so you can order a plate of Italy's finest spaghetti and enjoy the magical surroundings.

So that's the daytime covered – but what's there to do after dark? Well, the lounge and bar offers plenty in the way of beers, wines and spirits. And if you like live music, there's a band once a week on the open air terrace. But if you prefer something more, you're close enough to hop on the evening bus and head into nearby Sorrento.

So, if you're looking for a picture postcard spot that's high on romance and low on noise, this place is just the ticket.
