Cupped into Sorrento's cushiony-green hills, the Vue d'Or couldn't be in a better spot. Pin-drop quiet, it looks out over age-old olive groves and sapphire-blue seas, right across the Sorrentine Peninsula. But although it sits in a secluded setting, you're not totally off the beaten track. Catch the courtesy shuttle bus down into cutesy Sorrento where you'll uncover shops, bars and restaurants. Take a leisurely stroll up to the hilltop village of St Agate. Or visit the local historical sites such as Pompeii and the Herculaneum ruins.
From the moment you step into the Vue d'Or though, you may well put a halt on any gallivanting. First off to impress is the lobby. Sorrento Italy is situated in Campania, southern Italy and is a popular tourist destination. Clinging on to the edge of a cliff top that falls sheer to the sea, this picturesque town enjoys a perfect position with views over the bay of Naples towards Mount Vesuvius. Naples and Pompeii can be reached easily as the town is on the south-eastern terminus of the Circumvesuviana train line. Boats and hydrofoils offer services to Naples, Amalfi, Positano, Capri and Ischia.
